
Manuscript Submission
Articles submitted for publication should comply with the "Recommendations for the Preparation, Editing and Publication of Scholarly Papers in Medical Journals", developed by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors in Vancouver, British Columbia, starting in 1978 and continuously updated. The Vancouver Group included formats for bibliographic references developed by the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM), this group has now become the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).
Authors should review the guidelines for reporting and publishing research studies available on the EQUATOR network. For publication of randomized controlled clinical trials, the CONSORT statement checklist should be observed; for systematic reviews and meta-analyses, the PRISMA guidelines; for meta-analyses of observational studies: MOOSE; for observational studies: STROBE; for diagnostic accuracy studies: STARD; for economic evaluations, CHEERS; clinical case reports: CARE; surgical: SCARE. Authors of consensus documents and clinical guidelines should use support tools such as AGREE II.
Authors, reviewers and editors should comply with the provisions of the current regulatory and normative framework for health research involving human intervention, promulgated by the health authority, the Ministry of Public Health of Ecuador.
Selection of the works
The selection process of the works to be published is carried out according to the lines of research of the HECAM, and the interest of the topics selected by the Editorial Policy Committee, which considers the written topics and in ordinary session and through minutes the selected topics are approved to be published in the journal. The topics that are not considered suitable for publication will be returned to their authors after sending a report indicating the reasons for not meeting the desired academic quality for publication.
In case of controversy of opinion, the Editorial Policy Committee must ensure that in case of legal action against the editors, they will have the necessary legal advice to settle the controversy. Editors must defend the confidentiality of authors and reviewers (names and review comments), in accordance with ICMJE policy (section II C.2.A).
Criteria for acceptance or rejection of submitted articles:
Originality; b) Accuracy of the topic; c) Theoretical soundness; d) Reliability and scientific validity; e) Justification of the results; f) Impact; g) Future perspectives/contributions; h) Quality of writing; i) Presentation of tables and figures; and e) References. At the end of the evaluation process, the main author will be notified of the acceptance or rejection of the paper. Non-accepted papers will be returned to their authors indicating the reasons for such decision.
Confidentiality
Editors and reviewers will consider all manuscripts received as confidential, both about the manuscripts and the information they contain; they should not publicly discuss a paper and should not appropriate the authors' ideas; they should not retain the manuscript for personal use and should destroy their copies after submitting their evaluation, except in cases of suspected misconduct of the author/co-authors.
Commitment of the editors
The editors commit to maintain the journal online at full-text, journal download level or per-article, free of charge.
Editors who make final decisions on manuscripts will refrain from participating in editorial decisions. Other members of the editorial staff will describe their financial or other interests in participating in decisions related to editing the journal.
Guest editors should also follow the same procedures.
Opportunity
Once the article or research is accepted for processing, the submission and peer review process should be carried out in a timely manner, making known possible modifications in both form and substance, and the corrections should be forwarded to the Editorial Policy Committee for the relevance or not of publication.
Integrity
Under the concepts of the Good Practices of the Editorial Process of LILACS Scientific Journals (BIREME), Latindex Directory and Latindex Catalog 2.0; the International Committee of Directors of Biomedical Journals ICMJE; the Committee on Publications Ethics (COPE); the Editorial Policy Committee, the National and International Scientific Editorial Board of the journal; we will preserve the integrity of the contents presented and published in the journal, ensuring that errors, inaccurate or misleading statements are corrected immediately, under the established schemes.
Aspects during publication and editing related to Medical Journals
Corrections and version control
Unintentional errors are part of science and the editorial process requires corrections to be made after they are detected. In order to control the corrections and different versions of the manuscript, the records of the articles are taken into consideration, chronologically through the Open Journal System, OJS of the journal.
Ownership of the Journal and editorial freedom
The Revista Médica Científica CAMbios HCAM is the property of Hospital de Especialidades Carlos Andrade Marín, which belongs to the Instituto Ecuatoriano de Seguridad Social. The Editorial Policy Committee, are responsible for the edition and have full authority over the entire editorial content of the journal, and the time of its publication. Furthermore, they do not interfere in the evaluation, selection, programming or editing of articles.
They have freedom of expression on critical and responsible points about all aspects of medicine without fear of reprisal, including points of view that differ from or conflict with the publisher's business objectives.
Protection of individuals involved in research
The Editorial Policy Committee in coordination with the Human Research Ethics Committee, CEISH and other hospital committees, ensure that the corresponding Informed Consents are formulated and executed in due process.
Re-publications
The journal CAMbios, as a rule DOES NOT ACCEPT re-publications of articles as it is not allowed by our indexing.
Sponsorship and sponsors
As a rule, the journal records the FUNDING component, and authors who work for or receive sponsorship from pharmaceutical companies or other commercial organizations must declare them in the section after registration and authorization by the competent authorities.
Electronic publication
The Revista Médica Científica CAMbios, has the electronic ISSN 2661-6947, the Open Journal System (OJS) and affiliation to CROSSREF with assignment of DOI 10.36015, its format is digital, and maintains the semiannual periodicity, with management and dissemination at national and international level, without prejudice that it can change periodicity according to institutional needs with prior authorization.
Advertising and media
In accordance with technological advances in the field of information technology, the CAMbios Journal has an electronic platform that allows it to edit and publish scientific articles in the medical and Public Health field in OJS, with electronic ISSN and DOI/CROSSREF. By means of a QR code, each article can be located and disseminated anywhere in the world.
Other means of social diffusion are: Facebook ; Google Scholar; IESS page; in the Institutional newspaper Latidos with local diffusion; in the platforms of LILACS BIREME Indexations, through FI ADMIN; in Latindex Directory and Latindex Catalog 2.0 through the National Secretariat of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, SENESCYT. In addition, each journal includes advertisements free of commercial publicity.
Authorship and authors' rights
All published articles will be protected by copyrights that cover their reproduction and distribution. The editor will record: the dates of submission, receipt, manuscript response; and the participation codes, which the authors clearly identify as their collective responsibility. It is not up to the editors to determine the role of authors or to have the role of arbitrator when there are conflicts of interest among authors.

Contributors
Collaborators who do not meet the participation codes indicated, in order to be recognized as authors, should not appear as such, but should be acknowledged in the acknowledgements, for example: those who acquire the funds; general supervision of the research group; technical editing; translation or correction of the written part; printing proofs, other contributions to be specified.
Responsibilities of authors, reviewers and editors.
Authors, reviewers, and editors have the obligation to disclose the existence of personal, financial, institutional, family, intellectual, economic, academic competence, or corporate interest relationships, etc., that could affect scientific judgment, bias their conclusions, and influence the development of the manuscript or its review.
Conflicts of interest
Authors, reviewers, and editors are required to declare the existence of personal, financial, institutional, family, intellectual, or academic competence relationships, etc., that could affect scientific judgment, bias their conclusions, and influence the development of the manuscript or its review. All submitted manuscripts will include the section "conflict of interest" with the sentence: "The authors reported having no personal, financial, institutional, family, intellectual, economic, academic competence, or corporate interest conflicts. Authors who work for or receive sponsorship from pharmaceutical companies or other commercial organizations should declare them in this section; and, in the case of conflicts of interest, the reason should be stated.
Changes of authorship
In accordance with the guidelines, written confirmation is required, via e-mail, signed by all authors confirming that they agree with the proposed changes in the authorship of submitted manuscripts or published articles; and, it can only be modified through the publication of a correction article. It is not the responsibility of the editor to resolve authorship disputes.
Duplication of publication
The manuscript must be original, not under review by another journal. Articles already published in other media will not be accepted, except for academic reasons. In the possibility of duplication and if the editor detects evidence, he/she may suspend the publication of the article or retract it.
Editorial Board
The Revista Médica Científica CAMbios HECAM, has the legal responsibility to ensure that its content does not infringe copyright or include libelous or defamatory content. If this is the case, the editor may request the authors to reformulate the manuscript.
Misconduct
The Revista Médica Científica CAMbios HECAM, in cases of proven research misconduct, articles already published will be retracted. This measure may include other articles published by the same author(s). The Human Research Ethics Committee, CEISH-HCAM, will act according to the Institutional Internal Regulations and those established by the Health Authority.
Correction
The CAMbios HECAM Medical Scientific Journal will publish corrections of articles already published in previous issues.
Retractions
If scientific evidence contradicts the findings of a published article, errors, plagiarism or bad research practices are discovered, a partial or total retraction will be made, indexed and linked to the original article indicating its causes.
Comments policy
Readers may send comments on articles published in the journal, but the editor reserves the right to publish them or not, taking into account the relevance and pertinence of the opinions expressed.
Appeals
Authors have the right to appeal the rejection of the manuscript, which will be reviewed by the Editorial Policy Committee and in its decisions, which will be final, will take into account the scientific, methodological and ethical content of the study.
