Abstract
Currently, the scientific community faces challenges in data collection to
investigations, where concepts such as anonymization, pseudonymization and pseudoanonymization
They are fundamental. These processes seek to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability
of the information of the study subjects, in this case, the patients.
Anonymization is an irreversible process that completely eliminates any possibility of
identify an individual in a data set, meaning that once it has been anonymized
information, any associated ID cannot be restored. On the other hand,
pseudonymization involves replacing direct identifying data with alternative identifiers
or pseudonyms, which allows us to continue maintaining certain information related to
the individual, but without directly revealing his or her identity. Regarding pseudonymization,
It is characterized by the encryption or transformation of data in a way that makes it possible to reverse
the process with some additional information, which adds a layer of protection, but does not
guarantees absolute anonymity.
