Clinical bioethics cases are rarely presented or published mainly because they are subjects that should be treated based on bioethical principies. The treatment of bioethical dilemmas has been done from different points of view, each of one proposing their own scheme. For this occasion, the Integrated System for Bioethical Cases Treatment has been adopted. We present a case that frequently should be addressed by medical staff : Limitation of therapeutic effort and Palliative care.
This case took place at a Hospital in Quito and was treated without respecting basic bioethical principies. The case is presented to make health professionals aware of the importance of making the right decisión at the right time.
